VCF at Hula Fund

VCF at Hula is a venture capital fund established in August 2022. It supports early-stage Vermont-based tech startups that positively impact both Vermont and the world. This fund is a partnership between Hula (the fund’s general partner) and the Vermont Community Foundation (the fund’s sole limited partner).

A venture capital fund pools money to invest in early-stage companies, often in exchange for equity stakes. The general partner manages the fund, while limited partners provide the capital.

Hula is a coworking space, business incubator, and venture capital fund that supports Vermont-based tech startups. Hula aims to grow Burlington’s startup ecosystem and benefit the entire state through its investments in early-stage tech companies across various sectors, including green technology, medical technology, artificial intelligence, and software-as-a-service.

The VCF at Hula fund was created to enhance Vermont’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, fostering economic resilience and job growth. This initiative allows fundholders at the Community Foundation to invest charitable assets directly in Vermont-based companies, thus increasing the Foundation’s capacity for impactful grantmaking

VCF at Hula invests alongside Hula’s existing venture portfolios. Hula, as the general partner, manages sourcing, analyzing, and deciding on investments that align with VCF at Hula’s goals.

The fund is capped at $3 million.
