Good neighbors recognize when others go above and beyond. Through a continued partnership between the Vermont Community Foundation and Seven Days, there’s a meaningful way to turn that recognition into lasting impact.
For the second year, Vermont Community Foundation is proud to fund a $10,000 grant for the winner of the Seven Daysies “Best Nonprofit” category. Chosen by Vermonters, this award celebrates a local organization whose dedication strengthens communities across the state.
“Every day, nonprofits across Vermont are strengthening communities in ways both seen and unseen,” said Dan Smith, president & CEO of the Vermont Community Foundation. “The Daysies shine a light on that work through the voices of Vermonters themselves. We’re proud to partner with Seven Days to celebrate this recognition and to help carry that work forward through this grant.”
Last year’s winner, the Humane Society of Chittenden County, stood out for its deep commitment to animals and the people who care for them. Other finalists included Age Well, Artistree Community Arts Center, Theatre & Gallery, Habitat for Aviation, and Junction Arts & Media. Together, they reflect the breadth of work happening across Vermont to help communities become stronger and more connected.
“This $10,000 award will go a long way to help nonprofits trying to make this a better place,” Seven Days publisher Paula Routly said. “The campaign also artfully underscores how local media brings and holds our community together.”

Why It Matters
Recognition like this does more than celebrate good work. It helps organizations gain visibility, build momentum, and deepen their connection to the communities they serve.
At the Vermont Community Foundation, we see every day what happens when generosity takes root. Together with our donors and partners, we work to strengthen Vermont’s communities by supporting organizations across the state, from arts and education to housing, food security, and climate resilience.
This partnership with Seven Days is one way we can listen to Vermonters, lift up the organizations they believe in, and help that work grow.
