Supporting Early Childhood Education with an IRA Gift

I woman sits on a rug on a floor and reads a book to a child.

IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions can be made to the Vermont Community Foundation’s Early Childhood Education Fund, which will support initiatives in service of Vermont’s child care system. As a Supporting Organization of the Vermont Community Fund, Let’s Grow Kids is unable to accept qualified charitable distributions per IRS regulations. VCF’s Early Childhood Education Fund fulfills the mission of Let’s Grow Kids, while also meeting IRS guidelines.

If you are 70 1/2 or older consider making a tax-exempt direct transfer to the fund using your IRA. Gifts can be made up to $100K. Qualified charitable distributions from an IRA (QCD): QCDs can be used to make charitable donations to the Early Childhood Education Fund at the Vermont Community Foundation.

IRA QCD checks should be made out to: The Early Childhood Education Fund and be mailed to:

No gifts to The Vermont Community Foundation shall directly or indirectly subject the Vermont Community Foundation to a prohibited material restriction as defined by federal law. All gifts are subject to a federally required amendment or variance power that permits the Vermont Community Foundation to vary from the terms and conditions of agreements with donors relative to the purpose, investment, and management of its funds subject to the procedural requirements of Vermont state law. In practice, the Foundation uses this variance power rarely and only if the needs of the community have shifted. The Foundation will be in communication with donors should such a shift occur.
