Good neighbors naturally help neighbors—and sometimes that means lacing up your running shoes. For the second year in a row, the Vermont Community Foundation is proud to support the Heady Trotter 4 Miler, a fun and spirited event that benefits Green Mountain Adaptive Sports (GMAS). Green Mountain Adaptive Sports’ work is about much more than sports—it’s about building confidence, emotional well-being, and connection for all Vermonters, regardless of ability. Supporting organizations like GMAS is part of the Vermont Community Foundation’s broader mission to build stronger communities across the state.

Last year’s match challenge helped GMAS expand access to inclusive sports and recreation for Vermonters of all abilities. This year, that momentum continues—with GMAS channeling the community’s generosity into new opportunities

“Last year’s Heady Trotter match inspired an incredible wave of generosity, and now Green Mountain Adaptive Sports is turning that energy into new opportunities,” said Felipe Rivera, Vice President of Strategy & Communications at the VCF. “Our work is all about connecting people who care with the organizations making a difference. Seeing GMAS expand to offer scholarships at Smugglers’ Notch is a perfect example of what happens when Vermonters rally around one another.”

At the Vermont Community Foundation, we’re proud to represent over 1,000 individuals, families, and businesses who are dedicated to making their communities stronger through giving. By supporting events like the Heady Trotter, which benefits GMAS, we hope to inspire more Vermonters to give locally.

Together, with the generosity of fundholders, partners, and community members, we’re helping ensure that every Vermonter—of every ability—has access to the opportunities and connections that make this state such a special place to live.
